Product description
Shellac is a natural raw material containing wax known to mankind for millennia, which is also useful in the field of varnishes, among other things. Shellac is created as an excrement of the lacquer worm, which is found mainly in India and Thailand. The lacquer worm protects its larvae from environmental influences through this secretion. The secretions for the production of shellac are harvested from the twigs twice a year. After cleaning and further processing, the so-called core lacquer is created, and the result of other processes are various types of valuable shellac. Shellac is a unique natural resin of animal origin.
This natural product is used to create a shiny hard surface and is physiologically harmless, biodegradable, odorless and contains no poisons.
A 45 g package is enough to produce approximately 150 g of shellac solution.

Use
Dissolve the flake shellac with frequent stirring in alcohol (minimum 96%) in a ratio of 1:2 (e.g. 10 g of flakes plus 20 g of solvent). After the flakes have dissolved, filter or pour off the solution and dilute if necessary.
Sand the raw surface of the wood with 180 grit paper and carefully remove sanding dust. Then apply the solution using a soft tampon in continuous circular motions. Allow to dry and then apply additional layers in the same manner with a new clean pad, always after intermediate sanding with 240 grit paper and removing sanding dust.
